Region of Banat

Wines of Minis

Banat region is maybe best known internationally. The most famous region is Minis-Maderat, situated in Arad County. It is well known that the Vineyards of Banat have provided for centuries wines for the imperial court of Vienna.

Note: Minis-Maderat is located in Arad County and often it appears as a vineyard of Crisana Region.


Banat is situated in west of Romanian (see the map).


One of the most famous vineyard is Minis-Maderat, situated in Arad County. Also Viile Banatului vineyards have gained popularity through it's 5 wine centers: Moldova Noua, Tirol, Silagiu, Recas and Teremia.


The grapes growing here are both old native grapes and new imported grapes. The most important are: Cabernet Sauvignon, Pinot Noir, Italian Riesling, Sauvignon, Burgund Mare, Feteasca Regala, Merlot, Muscat Ottonel, Cadarca.
